Super Super Super Tight!!

penniesI can’t believe it…DH was laid off this morning. Now that makes two of us not working a FT job. Yes I do some freelance work from home, I’ve been home with a toddler while the big kids are in school, and even applied at the local Target to work PT nights and weekends. Yes we knew things would slow down (the reason I went in search for PT work til I find a FT job to offset daycare costs) but we did not realize it would come to a complete stop. In fact I hear the company’s filing bankruptcy.

We’d been thinking about downsizing to a smaller monthly household budget (possibly moving and/or getting rid of a vehicle) but with both of us out of work, can we even do that? Who would want to work with us knowing we’re BOTH “unemployed” FT? What do I do with the pile of bills left to take care of when you’re stuck with nowhere to go with them? How do you explain that you realize you don’t have it and you’ll do your best but just can’t provide a time frame with when I’ll have it to give?

Things are going to be SUPER SUPER SUPER TIGHT!! MORE than EVER!

And now…here we come towards the holidays.

Do I really bother pulling out the decorations after Thanksgiving as is customary even though there is the possibility we may have to eventually pack up and move? Or do I continue as usual for my children’s sake?

The kids are constantly talking about the upcoming Christmas season, we tell them to keep in mind that “Santa” may only bring 1 item on their list and then the gifts from us may not be as it has been in the past. They say that’s cool but you know kids. They really do  have high hopes. Perhaps I could get them each 1 special Santa gift from their list then hand make or refurbish things to make like new (perhaps tell myself if it costs more than $5, think of something else). Kids want things to unwrap and parents love to watch their eyes dance in sheer delight!

I feel pretty low right now…I’m not sure what we’ll do.
