Been Decorating

Ahhh…that’s a little sigh of relief as I take a sip of my hot fresh coffee. A sigh of relief knowing I’m starting to feel and see that transition into the holiday spirit. Lots to do today but at least much of my decorating is mostly done. To add to the feeling, I’m thinking about making some minty chocolate chip cookies (boy will the fam be excited when they smell that).

In hopes of bringing our spirits up from the stress we’ve been dealing with I’ve been decorating the past couple of days. It’s been a fast year and one with lots of frustration. I’m ready for it to end and hopeful for the new year but in the meantime, the Christmas season is one I look forward to all year long and one I’m not going to pass up on just because I may not have much under the tree this year. I’m no longer a child so the receiving of gifts isn’t what excites me so, it’s the decorative spirit, the gleeful feeling within, the celebrations with family and friends, the Christmas movies and music, and the giving of gifts to others.

Here are some images of what’s been done. It’s coming around and soon I’ll be able to get rid of the hideous rubber made bins in my living room.

Still need to add some things to the garland around the mirror.
Since DH won’t put gas lines to the fireplace I had to create my own “fire”.
My tree still doesn’t look nearly as good as mom’s but oh well…

My coffee station must be somewhat festive.
I’m drinking out of one of wintry mugs now in fact…

I HAD to let the kids decorate a tree.
The big tree is MINE! (lol)
These are in the alcove along with Peanut’s dinosaur puzzle…

What’s left to do…

  • Kitchen (DH hurry up and find those hooks so the garland can go up!)
  • Bathrooms (Garland is up around the mirrors but now I need to add in some pieces and decorate the mini tree on sink.)
  • Front door & porch (I have to REDO because I put the WRONG garland up last night…to damn short! UGH)
  • Front outside tree needs to be lighted (Hurry up DH…get to climbing!)

I’m sure to update this post with images as I finish up.
I’ll go insane seeing an incomplete list!

Beautiful tree! I think you have done a fab job decorating! Are you adding lights to the garland around the mirror? I think it looks good the way it is. Everything is very festive!

I have not dug anything out yet. Yikes! Stopping by from SITS!

Thank you Angelia! I had lights on the garland around the mirror last year but I'm thinking about not. I do plan on adding some of those decorative craft pieces that you use in wreathes though and perhaps some beading intertwined in.

Very cool! I'm such a scrooge. If it wasn't for my oldest daughter we probably wouldn't even have had a tree all of these years. Maybe I'll surprise her and get some more decorations. I like the idea of the little trees. Maybe I should get a few for my three youngest children. Thanks for getting me a little in the spirit. I really like your coffee station. :)
