This exciting new CD is from Celtic Woman, a 5 member Irish female ensemble known for putting a modern twist on the Celtic Sound. The Songs from the Heart CD includes contemporary hits like Sting’s “Fields of Gold” and Billy Joel’s “Goodnight My Angel.”
Celtic Woman is all over the Billboard charts, selling more than 3.8 million records in the U.S. alone, and has had 7 sold-out US Tours. They are currently kicking off their tour which includes dates at New York City’s famed Radio City Music Hall. They’ve performed on Dancing With the Stars and will have an upcoming PBS special.

MY THOUGHTS…Wow – At first I honestly didn’t think I or the kids would like Celtic Woman. Prior to receiving a copy I heard about them but I don’t recall ever really listening to it. Music has always been a part of my life growing up. In fact there even was a time my dad wanted to be the next “Partridge Family” (yeah REALLY SCARY…lol…for those of you who don’t know who that family is…SHUT UP!!! lol) I sang, even had lessons, played a little piano, my dad played the guitar, mom was supposed to bang that tambourine, and sis would sing and play drums. LOL Thank goodness we never did that!
Back to music…where others may paint or create things with their hands to feel and/or release emotions, music does it for me. When I popped in that CD in the car for a 25min ride to mom’s with the kids, I was quite emotionally touched. There were songs that made me feel like I could be laying out on a huge grassy field with my eyes closed feeling the warmth from the sun. Another song I could just imagine dancing on the hilltop or in the forest like a faery all giddy with delight. There are some familiar songs like Fields of Gold (Sting), Amazing Grace, Goodnight My Angel (Billy Joel) When You Believe, and You’ll Be In My Heart (Elton John). The kids were impressed, my older daughter wanted me to “sing along” with her and the CD, and even told me she wanted to keep the CD for her room! Had I known she’d be so into it (being 10 years old), I would definitely had jumped on the live show opportunity and taken her for a “mom and me” night out.
