Mamavation Monday Post #1

Watch Lives ChangeI’ve been following @bookieboo and some of the other ladies who participate with the Mamavation group for some time. Finally decided to join the group and get some mamavation going while I work harder towards my health and fitness goals. Today I got my approval to join and let me just say I’m PUMPED! Or was it the trip to the gym after work today?? Who knows, the fact is I’m taking steps towards improvement. Improvement that will give me more energy, make me feel better about myself and of course lead me towards a better role model for my kids. How can I preach the importance of being active and making better choices if I’m not following my own advice? Right? RIGHT!

As I mentioned over the weekend, I joined a local gym (which I LOVE), had a fitness assessment with a trainer (which made me realize how out of shape I was), and have been trying to go either during lunch or after work hours. The cool thing? My company’s covering the cost of the gym as long as I dedicate at least 10 visits a month. ABSOLUTELY doable and a great incentive to finally get my butt in the gym. No more excuses. The gym’s basically across the street from work and another site is about 10 minutes from the house.  Tomorrow’s another visit to the gym with the personal trainer for a free personal training session. I’m sure I’ll be feeling like jello come tomorrow evening. This week the kids will be in Vacation Bible School so stopping by the gym on the way home will be great if a meeting has me missing my usual lunch time (like today).

GOALS FOR THE WEEK: Drink more water
(got my new water bottle to sport)
and avoid eating out during lunch
(packing lunches w/ fruits & veggies).

Oh and for those of you who watched The Biggest Loser on tv? Shay Sorrells AKA @ShayBL is going to be on Mamavation TV tonight at 7pm PST/10pm EST on Mingle Media TV.

Oh and another thing – It’s Mamavation application week. If you are interested in becoming a Mamavation Mom for campaign #5, make sure to read this and click through to the application. @bookieboo is accepting applications from June 21st to June 30th. Send in your videos early because she loves the early birds!

That is so cool that your employer is smart enough to invest in your health and fitness. 10 visits a month is totally doable.

Wow! Can I come work for your employer? That's awesome! If they pay for the membership then you can splurge on yourself and do one personal training session/week, or even every other week! That way you can learn new stuff from them to do on your own. Man – thats amazing, I'm blown away by that.

Yes – packing your own lunch is a great way to go. I don't even pack a meal – I pack a bag of full of healthy snacks. I eat one mid-morning to fuel my lunch workout, then three snacks immediately after my workout, another afternoon snack, and another while driving home (I have an hour commute). By doing it that way I make healthy choices all day, and boost my metabolism throughout the day – it's worth a try!

PS – welcome to the Sistahood :) The girls have been so inspiring to me and have helped me immensely!

The personal trainer I'm working with told me that he wants me eating more to boost my metabolism. So now I need to figure out how to do all that on a budget and get used to constantly eating!

Welcome to the Sistahood! I'm so jealous of your gym situation! That is way cool. We hat a dinky gym in my small town that is so overpriced for what it is worth. Congrats on that score!

Hope to chat with you more!

@lovelyritaann Yeah, without the incentive I wouldn't have been able to afford the gym on my own. The gym is 02 Fitness and it is NICE! I believe membership would normally be around $59 a month for an individual? If my husband joins I'd only have to pay $36 for him. AWESOME deal!

That really is wonderful! Janice is right, since you're not paying for the gym, whenever you can afford it, you can get the personal trainer! Go to that gym & kick some major tushy!!! Welcome to the sistahood!! Oh & before I forget…drink that water! Drink I say! ; )
